Do you and your family lead healthy, active lifestyles? In Innisfil, you can do so year round, even through the winter!
Listed below are three outdoor winter activities that are fun for the whole family:
1) Family Skate with Fireworks
Organized by the Innisfil Community Events Corporation (ICE), this New Year’s celebration is taking place at the Innisfil Recreation Centre from 5 pm to 7 pm on December 31st.
The skating part of the event is indoors, but you’ll have to head outdoors to the parking lot for the fireworks, which start at 7:15 pm.
If you’re looking for a good way to bring in the New Year with friends and neighbours, or you want to experience what the Innisfil community has to offer, come out for a skate!
2) Polar Bear Dip
This event is for the daring who aren’t afraid of the cold. The Polar Bear Dip is also organized by ICE Corp. The event takes place at Innisfil Beach Park at 1:30 pm on February 20, 2016. So you have two months to mentally and physically prepare for your dip!
For those of you unaware of what a Polar Bear Dip is, it’s when you take a plunge in the lake in the middle of winter. What’s the point? It’s fun, it brings the community together, and it’s a great way to raise money for local organizations and charities.
The Polar Bear Dip has been very successful every year, and you should definitely take this opportunity to participate.
3) Skiing and snowboarding opportunities
There are numerous resorts in the Simcoe County area that are all a short drive away from Belle Aire Shores. At the moment, the warmer than usual weather has prevented most of them from opening.
But, it won’t be long before the snow machines are working overtime to get the hills covered! A few of the nearby and popular ski and snowboard resorts include Snow Valley, Mansfield Ski Club, and Mount St. Louis Moonstone.
Having a few resorts within a close proximity means that there will be more chances for impromptu family outings!
