Millbrook’s Christmas in the Village 2017

Millbrook

Here’s another reason to love Millbrook! This lovely new home community just outside Durham offers a wonderful place to live and play, especially during the Christmas holidays.

The holidays are the time to gather with family and friends, to reconnect, and enjoy the splendor of the season. While many communities celebrate with parades, lighting ceremonies and various holiday events, there’s no better place to celebrate the season than the Town of Millbrook.

With it’s storybook setting (Millbrook is often the setting for historical themed movie and television, including CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries and Anne of Green Gables) you can imagine just what Christmas felt like a hundred years ago.

Christmas in the Village traditionally kicks off Friday night with a visit from Santa. He flew in all the way from the North Pole to visit the kids at Millbrook Public School, toured the village, and led the festivities all weekend long. Hopping into a horse-drawn carriage, jolly old Kris Kringle led the charge down King Street, guiding a parade of carolers, as the sound of holiday melodies like ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer’ and ‘Jingle Bells’, filled the cold winter air.

Santa and his parade of carolers traveled along King St. W. to the Millbrook Legion for the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, marking the official start to Christmas.

The main event was on Saturday, with the Santa Claus Parade. This year, the sky was overcast and the wind was chilly, but that didn’t stop the people of Millbrook from celebrating with the big man in the red suit! The Parade featured many service clubs and schools in the area, including the Legion, Lions, local hockey teams, and even some four-legged companions joined in the fun.

What’s special about Millbrook, is that this close-knit community will take you back to a simpler time. With its charm and warmth, it presents a wonderful environment to raise a family. It’s a Town that truly embraces the spirit and festivities of the season.

Look no further for a place to call home! The Highlands of Millbrook is proud to be a part of this community spirit with a great alternative to new detached homes in Durham.

In Spring of 2018, Highlands of Millbrook will introduce 2-car, freehold townhomes. If you have not previously registered, please do so now for more important details. Please Click here to register.
